Saguache is the northern gateway to the San Luis Valley. It is surrounded by the Sangre de Cristo mountain range on the east and the San Juan range on the west. many of the peaks are 14,000 feet, a great challenge to climbers and hikers. (Read more below...)

Saguache offers easy access to the Great Sand Dunes National Park
and Preserve. It is also home to Joyful Journey Hot Springs Spa where the healing waters have always attracted travelers. Another hot spot for visitors and locals alike are the Sand Dunes Hot Springs Swimming Pool (pictured).

This remote area is perfect for outdoor lovers. Hiking trails abound and a multitude of natural rock formations are perfect for climbing. Horse back riding, fishing, hunting, biking and 4 wheeling are all exciting warm weather activities. Likewise, cross country skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing are area favorites in the winter. Truly four seasons of fun!
