In the cold winter months, visitors and locals enjoy activities including snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. A marvel of nature not to be missed is Wheeler Geological Area, where people can still see the legacy of volcanic eruption from 30 million years ago.
Of course, there are many things to do in Creede without driving out of town. Visit the Underground Mining Museum or take in a play at the Creede Repertory Theatre. Anyone can spend a day shopping downtown at all the local shops and boutiques; of course, all that shopping can work up a mountain size appetite.
